Bali Beaches Review

The best beaches in Bali
Gunung payung
Green bowl
Mengiat
Dreamland
Nusa Dua
Blue lagoon padang bai
Balanban
Pandawa
Padang padang

1. Gunung Payung is in my opinion the best beach in Bali and we went to a lot of beaches. Its a secret beach with not many people. Its beautiful you cant believe how amazing it is when you arrive. Be warned there are plenty of steps to get you down the cliff to the beach and walking back up is hard but so definitely worth it. The sea is clear blue and the sand white and clean. The sea is wavy and the current is very strong so its best to just get in, get wet, get out.
The beach area itself is big enough and there are some rocks which make the perfect photo setting.

Cost
8,000 IDR each (approx 40p each)

Address
Pantai Gunung Payung, Kutuh, South Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali

2. Green bowl beach is my second favourite beach its close to Gayung Payung but a lot smaller and when the tide comes in everyone ends up very close together. This is a small secluded beach again with few tourists. Its picture perfect the sand so white and soft and the sea is turquoise and very deep perfect for tall people like me. There are a few locals trying to sell bracelets but once you say no thank you they leave you to enjoy the beach. The caves on this beach are amazing and provide shade for those who need it.

Cost
Its a free beach!
Address
Green Bowl Beach, Ungasan, South Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali

3. Mengiat beach turns into Nusa Dua beach. This is a large beach and has lots of tourists and many families. But as its so large you can walk for miles and find a spot to yourself. The sea is calm and very safe to swim. The sea again is clear and the sand soft.  There are restaurants and bars along this beach and you can hire a sunbed/umbrella.

Cost
5,000 IDR for parking the beach is free
Address
Mengiat Beach,Jl.Pantai Mengiat Kawasan ITDC, Nusa Dua, Kuta Selatan, Benoa, Kuta Sel., Kabupaten Badung, Bali 80363

4. Dreamland beach is a dream. This is such a nice beach and you again have the tourist part with restaurants, bars and sunbeds to hire but if you walk around you can find a secluded spot. The sea is really strong and hard to swim as there are little stones which hit your ankles when you try to enter due to waves moving the stones. But once your in, its very refreshing and you literally swim in the same spot as the current is so strong. Hold onto your bikini!

Cost
5,000 IDR (approx. we went a few days ago and I've forgotten the exact price) for parking the beach is free
Address
Jl. Raya Pecatu Bukit Jimbaran Bukit

5. Nusa Dua beach is another long sandy beach with a mix of surfers, tourists and locals. The sand is white the sea is turquoise and you can hire a sunbed/umbrella. There is the odd boat anchored on shore for water sports and a few locals trying to sell you sarongs or kites. The sea is calm and perfect for a swim or snorkel.

Cost
5,000 IDR (approx. we went a few days ago and I've forgotten the exact price) for parking the beach is free
Address
Nusa Dua Lot. North 4, Benoa, Kuta Selatan, Benoa, Kuta Sel., Kabupaten Badung

6. Blue Lagoon Padang Bai beach is very small but when the tide is out very nice. It can be crowded as there isn't much sand but the caves in the distance make the view unbeatable. You have to walk down a few steps and you will be asked if you want massage or coconut but then your free to enjoy the beach. This beach is around the back from Main Beach in Pandang Bai.

Cost
2,000 IDR for parking the beach is free
Address
Padangbai, Manggis, Karangasem Regency, Bali 80871

7. Balangan Beach is well known for the view point for sunset. But it also has a beach too. Its very small and the majority of the space is for sunbeds. You can learn to surf here and there are several surfers. The sea is very wavy and it has rocks which wash up on shore so be careful. I didn't even make it into the sea a rock hit my ankle and then that was a no from me. But others were enjoying themselves having a swim. You can buy coconuts and eat in the restaurant.

Cost
5,000 IDR(approx.) for parking the beach is free
Address
Balangan Beach, South Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali

8. Pandawa beach is a long sandy beach with sunbeds everywhere. This is a top tourist attraction as there are many restaurants, shops and bars. The sea is nice and the sand is clean but its very cramped.

Cost
30,000 IDR each (not worth the money)
Address
Pandawa beach, Kutuh,Bandung, Bali

9. Padang Padang beach is very small and over crowded. Its cool as you have to walk through a cave to get to the stairs to the beach and there are naughty monkeys everywhere but the beach itself isn't the best. The sea is shallow and half the beach has the sun, the other half in the shade. There are lots of local selling things and its very loud as there are so many people.

Cost
1,000 IDR to park and then 10,000 IDR each for the beach

Address
Padang Padang beach, Pecatu, South Kuta, Badung Regency, Bali

Oh and also do not even think of going Kuta or Jimbaran beach as there both dirty - worse beaches ever!!!
