Patong Beach

Patong beach which is a lively area in Phuket and is well known for its night life scene and once your here you quickly realise its the perfect lads holiday.

Phuket is expensive in comparison to other south asian countries, its almost like London prices in some places and to drink in the nightclubs is a standard english price (£6-£7 per cocktail). The food is cheaper but still very expensive compared to other places in Thailand. Accommodation is very reasonable you can find budget rooms or very high end hotels perfect for your long holiday.

Patong beach has many lady boys and the famous Bangla road has thai girls everywhere dancing in the bars trying to get people. You can kinda notice which ones are lady boys, mainly by their big bums, fake boobs and manly faces. When you walk down the road everyone tries to sell you live sex shows, ping pong shows and chop stick shows.

The massage parlours in Phuket are known for “happy endings” which as you guessed in my opinion is disgusting. You can also find normal thai massages which will have “no sex” written on the door.

If you like drinking cheap alcohol and chart music patong beach will be perfect for you. Bangla road is a bar street and is open till early hours of the morning. There are two main night clubs; white nightclub which is equivalent to a walkabout in England you can buy buckets of alcohol here for 390 baht. Or Illuzion which is a high end EDM playing club, like many london nightclubs. Paid acrobat dancers, light shows, air conditioning and international djs. But the drink prices are expensive 1 shot of vodka 150 baht. But no entry fee if its a week day.

The food is best in the street markets as not only is it fresh but its the cheapest and tastiest. We have ate at several restaurants but are yet to find a thai restaurant where we both enjoy our meals.

A thai breakfast which is delicious is Mango Sticky Rice which is basically mango and sweet rice. The local beer is Chang beer and the price ranges from 50-90 baht depending on where you are.

Mango Sticky Rice
Patong beach to me is like a Benidorm in Spain, many western tourists. The sea isn't clear it actually looks green and the beach is very busy.  There are local supermarkets which is good as you can buy snacks/drinks to have on the beach. The beach is a free public beach.

You can opt to get a taxi to experience the other surrounding beaches or rent a bike at 300 baht a day. (Very expensive).

To visit phi phi island you can get a tour as a day trip or a ferry if you want to stay on the island. You can also get a ferry direct to Krabi.
