The perfect way to spend a boring day in-between Christmas and New Year. By eating out for a very cheap price in a very nice place. So I had heard good things about the Ivy as its a franchise as the restaurant is in most cities. However its new to Birmingham and nearly every time you try to book a table its busy or you can't make a reservation.

Eventually we got a table at 1pm so of course we opted for the set lunch menu. Without realising how big and filing the food would be we over ordered and ordered the three course set menu. This is a bad habit I have and I need to cut down over ordering as it will save me money in future.

Anyway, the venue itself is beautiful with birds painted on the walls and gorgeous glassware. The staff are friendly and actually all quite old and very well spoken. The tables are very close together so you can hear your neighbours conversation as if your included which is one downside but nearly all the fancy restaurants are like that now a days, so just don't go there on your first date.

The cocktail selection is quite limited but that doesn't stop me of course I had a cocktail and a cute one at that one with candy floss so it looked pretty cool.

Candy floss Fizz and Basil Daiquiri
Pumpkin Soup
Fish Cake
Fish Goujons
I had pumpkin soup to start although I was torn with the fish cake but after tasting the soup I made the right choice. It was so creamy and delicious I loved it

Then me and my friend both had fish goujons but we were not expecting them to be so huge. I can eat for England believe me, but this meal defeated me. So the third course which I already ordered definitely needed to go. I was surprised that you get such big portions considering its a fancy restaurant.

For the price, service and food the value for money was superb.
